The Brief:
To coordinate the development, authoring and publication of The Best Start in Life- A manifesto for physical activity in the early years on behalf of The British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity & Health (BHFNC). The manifesto’s aim was to influence decision makers, regionally, nationally and in government.
What I did:
I worked with The BHFNC National Early Years Advisory Group, an expert group which informs and supports early years work with BHFNC and provides a sounding board for the development of ideas to facilitate discussion, debate and in depth consultation to create a comprehensive manifesto.
Impact:
“Congrats on this latest piece of work. Very pleased to see physical literacy built into the concepts. I believe that if we take a life course approach to physical literacy we will begin to align many sectors and initiatives around physical activity. We will continue to follow your progress and are inspired to keep working on our projects that are similar. Well done.”
Dr Anne Pousette, Executive Director, Promotion of Wellness in Northern British Columbia, Canada
“Congratulations on producing this much-awaited Manifesto! A clearly crafted message to place the importance of physical activity in every child's life -very much on the radar of policy makers, commissioners and deliverers. This couldn't be more timely. Thank you.”
Liz Prosser, Healthy Schools Manager, Greater London Authority
“All the research shows how crucial regular physical activity is for young children's development, health and wellbeing, so I fully support this manifesto.”
